Mughal Gardens | Monica’s Archives

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the mind. People love flowers because of the beauty, color, shape, and fragrance. Flowers are very expensive gift of nature. And if you want to see abundance of flowers in different colors and shape arranged in a magnificent way, then do visit the Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Yes, it is opened for general public in the months of February and March every year.  Depending on the season the dates are disclosed every year which can be checked online. The President inaugurates annual Udyanotsav of Mughal Garden every year, after which it is opened for general public. The garden remains open for general public from 10am to 4pm on all days except Mondays. To reach Mughal garden, get down at the Central Secretariat metro station on the yellow line. Take a short walk to Rashtrapati Bhawan and enter from gate no. 35. You can also take a cab or can drive your own car. There is limited parking space for vehicles. The entry to Mughal Garden is free. To enter the garden there are two queues, one for those who have registered their visit online and other for those who have not registered. For entry you need to carry your identity proof. The visit can be booked online on https://rb.nic.in/rbvisit/rbvisit_mughal.aspx

There are number of things which are restricted at the entry gate due to security reasons, such as:
·         Water bottles
·         Eatables
·         Hand bags
·         Camera
·         Radio
·         Other consumer goods.
Mobile is allowed and you can take pictures from your mobile in the garden. In short, your mobile and small wallet having money is only allowed. It is better to keep your belongings in the lockers provided at the gate first and then stand in the queue of entrance.
The people can visit Spiritual garden, Herbal garden, Bonsai garden and musical garden inside apart from the main garden.

The main attractions of this year’s “Udyanotsav” are tulips, exotic flowers and different bulbous flowers. Tulips are specially cultivated in Mughal gardens which bloom in phases in the month of February. They are in vivid colors of red, white, orange and yellow mixed with red and pink. Flower carpets in magnificent designs are displayed in the central lawns. The dominant color scheme of this year’s ornamental flowers is white, yellow, red and orange. A small beautified cactus corner with interesting varieties of cactus and succulents is landscaped. The Mughal Garden is beautifully designed with tulips, many varieties of seasonal flowers and many types of roses. Large geometrical designs are made like Rectangular garden, followed by long garden and finally the circular garden. Different flowers all well arranged and decorated in different kinds. Everything is so great! A nature lover would definitely, and yes, a selfie-addicted as well, like it since the garden is picture-perfect. The musical garden has three large water fountains. The music is digitized and the audio system is fed through computerized program controller.

I haven’t seen this much of flowers variety anywhere else. Lush green gardens, flowers and fountains were mesmerizing. Exit is also from gate no. 35. There are drinking outlets, one at entrance and other at the exit. At exit, there is one customer shop and a shop selling some eatables. Facility of restrooms is also there. After exiting from gate 35, we enter a small lane which has a number of hawkers selling street food.
It is a place one must visit. Not only you get to be in majestic Presidential estate, but the enchanting ambience is a treat to the eyes.
                                                                Happy Living!
